30 Takeover Possibilities

Kapitall of Seeking Alpha has compiled  a long list, from various sources, of possible companies that have potential for takeover. They started with 250 possible targets, and then pulled those companies stocks that had been shorted between the dates of 11/15/11 –  2/15/11. We of coarse are interested in those energy companies that are included, and if you keep up with Turn Key’s site, you probably are too. Be sure to take a good look at all the companies, especially those working with oil and gas.

1. Quicksilver Resources Inc. (KWK): Independent Oil & Gas Industry. Market cap of $2.44B. Street Insider identified the company as a potential takeover/LBO target. Shorted shares decreased from 8.95M to 6.57M over the last three months (-26.59% change). It’s been a rough couple of days for the stock, losing 7.42% over the last week.

2. Energy XXI Limited (EXXI): Oil & Gas Equipment & Services Industry. Market cap of $2.36B. UBS identified the company as a potential takeover/LBO target. Shorted shares decreased from 5.12M to 4.23M over the last three months (-17.38% change). This is a risky stock that is significantly more volatile than the overall market (beta = 2.29). The stock has had a good month, gaining 18.87%.


These companies can potentially create great investment opportunities, and with takeover as a possibility, it could be even better. Keep your eyes peeled for these takeover investment opportunities, it could be an tactful improvement to your portfolio.
